Antonio de Ulloa and Jorge Juan. Relación histórica del viage a la América meridionale. Voyage historique de l ́Amerique. Amsterdam et a Leipzig: Chez Arkstee et Merkus, 1752.

    Commentary:

Ulloa and Juan’s report, ordered by the Spanish king, Charles III, led to wholesale changes in the colonial administration in Latin America. A significant change was the creation of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. Buenos Aires would be transformed from a small port town, largely known as a smuggler’s haven, to the seat of the Viceroyalty. The book is from the Hesburgh Library’s Durand Library.
